Press Release
Saturday, July 25, 2009. Cape Codders and summer visitors save the date! The Mashpee Community Concert Committee is pleased to announce the 2009 Mashpee Night at the Pops will go on as scheduled. For the 18th year, this popular summer festival of music, fireworks and camaraderie will thrill thousands at the Mashpee Commons concert site. The beautiful sounds of the Cape Cod Symphony Orchestra, with Royston Nash conducting, along with special guest performers will provide music and Cape Cod’s most spectacular fireworks display, produced once again by world renown Atlas PyroVision Productions, will light up the sky.
In tough economic times, some summer events are being cancelled, but Pops organizers feel this is a summer when the Cape may need a “pick-me-up” and what better way than to celebrate summer with a homegrown stimulus package of patriotism, solidarity, food, fun and fireworks.
The non-profit organizing committee depends on community generosity to cover the substantial costs to produce this event. The producers acknowledge it will be a challenge this year to raise sufficient funds. The organizers are prepared, for the first time, to dip into “The Show Must Go On” reserve fund bequeathed to the Committee many years ago by the late Earle Marsters specifically for the purpose of continuing the Pops in the face of unforeseen financial issues. As always, there will be plenty of room for free seating on the day of the event. Reserved table seating goes on sale March 1st. |
