History of the Mashpee Community Concert Committee
The Mashpee Community Concert Committee, Inc. are the producers of "Mashpee Night at the Pops". Mashpee Night at the Pops was ‘born’ in 1987 sponsored and presented by Mashpee Community Concert Committee featuring The Spirit of America. In 1992,
the Mashpee Arts Council, Inc. and the Mashpee Chamber of Commerce paired together to present the concert. The present day Mashpee Community Concert Committee, Inc. (MCCC) was founded in 1993.
The mission of the MCCC is to promote the enjoyment of music, musical education foster a greater public appreciation of music through the annual “Mashpee Night at the Pops” concert. The Mashpee Community Concert Committee is committed to bringing music, art and theater to the children of Mashpee.
In 1993, local businessman Earle M. Marsters, Sr., made a bequest to MCCC and Mashpee Night at the Pops to ensure the continuation of this event for the benefit of the community. The ultimate goal is to create a permanent home for Mashpee Night at the Pops with these proceeds, concert proceeds and various fund-raising activities.
In 1997, the first $10,000 scholarship was awarded to a graduating Mashpee High School student who will be attending college to pursue a career in the fine, applied, creative or performing arts. In 1998, the scholarship fund received a generous donation from the Yanoff family in memory of Donna Lynn Yanoff. The scholarship was renamed the ‘Donna Lynn Yanoff Memorial Scholarship’ and is presented to the award recipient on the night of the concert.
The Town of Mashpee, Mashpee Public Schools, The Boys and Girls Club of Cape Cod and many other fine organizations have been awarded grants to assist in the funding of music and art related programs. Grants have funded many programs including, but not limited to:
- $10,000 Scholarship to a Mashpee High School Senior pursuing the Arts.
- Mashpee High School Marching Band uniforms
- The Nutcracker Ballet in Boston
- The Museum of Fine Arts in Boston
- Trips to the Zeiterion Theatre in New Bedford

- Trips to Cape Cod Community College for stage productions
- In-school workshops in puppetry, theatre and poetry

These, and many other fine programs, have been supported by Mashpee Night at the Pops! The MCCC has been blessed with tremendous volunteers and community support, without which these programs would not exist. Thank you to all!
